    Any help appreciated...

I ask about this 2 weeks ago before I went hunting last week but now after witnessing how the deer move and acted last week I have an idea and wanted to run it by yall.

In the picture is one spot im focusing on this early season purely for the deer movement Ive witnessed and with the southern winds in mind. Where I am parking right now I have had no problems but what it does cause is some scent left behind after I walk through the field and personally would like to leave as little as possible.

So my question is...since the area I posted is pretty much the only accessible area to my ranch other than on the FAR north side of the property...would it be a good idea to try and drive past my blind location like im leaving the property and park outside my gate and then trek across my hay field to my blind???

What are your thoughts or other ideas?

After trying many different approaches, I've found that deer don't care if I've walked there, but they care WHEN I've walked there. Call me crazy but I have less spooked deer when I get in early, regardless of whether or not I walked right on their trail.

I totally agree...I didn't really have any spooked deer this year they just didn't linger in the area as long as they should even though there was tons of treats in the area

Can you come in from the south, and walk across the hayfield? It is hard to tell but it seems to me like the parking area on the North side of the map would be a good place to HUNT. I personally am a firm believer of driving as little as possible.

The parking areas are a hop skip and a jump from the camp house

I would drive as little as possible unless the property has plenty of regular vehicle traffic and the deer are used to it. As stated, getting set up early enough to let things calm down awhile is the key IMO.

            Good luck.

K makes sense...the property has regular traffic movement Tuesday and Wed. Except of course when I go to hunt. I drive in once and only leave when I'm done.

What is your dominant wind direction?

I have thought about this but unfortunately the only terrain to cross on foot would be the drivable roads and it would take every bit of an hour and a half to cover that terrain (uphill) I would definitely be sweating through my clothes at that point.

How far from your camp to your huting area..if you have to drive, everytime and I mean EVERYTIME, throw some corn (doesent have to be much, maybe a coffee can in about 1/4 mile) to get the deer to think of the sound of your load as a lunch wagon not a death mobile....just trickle it out the windows no need to buy a road slinger.... but if you can walk the whole way walk....slowly ..

A straight line? About a mile, but the road doesn't go straight that I HAVE to travel on. It makes it about a mile and a half
