I think all urine(human/animal) turns into some form of ammonia in a short time. So a human making #1 in a scrape will be effective by the time a buck finds it. The scent should pique his curiosity.
Good Luck.

I like to make mine on an edge near heavy cover. Make sure there is a licking branch on the tree 4 or 5' above the scrape. I scrape out a spot bigger than any scrape around. I have tried several lures including my own, but trails end #307 has worked the best for me as far as getting more pictures. I put a little on the licking branch and then more in the scrape. I like to strip the leaves off the licking branch before putting the scent on. I'm not sure if that really helps but most of the primary scrapes that are being worked heavy you will find the licking branch will be broken, hanging, or stripped of leaves from being worked so often. If you are planning on hunting over your mock scrape, make it as close to cover/bedding, as you think you can without spooking Ol' Moby. Once they start working it, stay away from it. No need to add any more lure or contaminate it with your scent. They will freshen it up for you.

Exactly...in mi oppinion and own experience nothing get`s more buck attention than a fresh scrape, once they find or smell one they`ll come from time to time to investigate the scent and leave it`s own, best method to lure a buck.
stripping the hanging branches before putting scent on them it`s a sure way to make that scent last a little longer, the branch seems to suck the scent.
I would prefer being as far as possible from the scrape, just keeping it on sight and be seated somewhere close in the bucks travel route to it.
mans pee cannot be the same as deer unless you also have tarsal glands, since bucks urinate over them to mix the gland scent and their urine, ours has an absolutely different smell than a deer pee and the most important thing is to keep the area away from any human scent possible

No offense here but I would say that the only way to know if they doesn`t avoid fake scrapes with mans pee is making two, one with mans pee and the other with buck pee and put some trail cameras to realize which one gets more attention but in case that you already did this and succeed in luring a buck it`s good to know.
