    Tires 285-75-16 v 315-75-16

Well tomorrow I have to part with some hard earned cash. I currently have 315-75-16 tires on a f250 cc 7.3l diesel. They are mud tires and do not do exceptionally well in the mud. I really would like to get a set of Michelin ltx tires but the biggest they make is a 285-75-16. I need a e rated tire and I spend most of my time on pavement or gravel but I am off road a few times a month. What say the green screen? My truck has a 3" suspension lift. Will the 285s look too small in the wheel well. I have a spare 265 on now and it looks a little small. The 285 is about 1.3" smaller than the 315. Any insight would be helpful

I've got 285-75/16's on my Nissan Frontier 4x4, yes they will look small on your truck.

What about 305/70/16 in E rated? I'm running this size in a goodyear duratrac on my diesel. I have about 45k on them & they have plenty of life left on them.

A 295/75/16 will work. Not an E but will have the same load capacity

I wouldn't go smaller. I have 305s on my f250 with no lift and I think they look too small

I wanted the E to help with thorns. I seem to get quite a few flats from south texas brush

My '02 F250 CC 7.3l had a set of Cooper 315/75/16 with an extra front leaf spring "leveling" it(1.5" lift) on it when I bought it. I have since swapped the rear block to a F350 block. This gives my truck a 1.5" lift in the front and a 2" lift in the back.
I would not put anything smaller than 315s on my truck.

Your truck has another inch more lift than mine, so IMO, yes the 285s will look small on your truck.

I have 285s on my 01 F350 without a lift. I'd think with a lift they would look small.

Ok guys I am convinced. Gonna stick with the 315s. It looks like I may have to go with the dura tracs if I am gojng to stay with discount tire. Firestone has the 315 in the destination but I do not think they are as easy to deal with on the road hazard

305/70/16 and 285/75/16 are the same hight. The 305's are just wider.

**** you jinxed me....Went to Discount Tire to get a wheel weight replaced and it ended up being two tires with seperated belts on the tread.. The tires actually threw the weights I guess. Well I needed them anyway at 58K miles. Luckily my warranty tickets paid for the seperation on the two and I only had to pay for two new ones.... 4 new Cooper ATP 285/75/16s for $500 out the door after some negotiation with 4 new warranty tickets.
