Just curious what your thoughts are for this stupid shut down to be over by end of this month. Been looking forward to this hunt all summer, or actually for years, and now our govt. potentially screws us out of this. Any thoughts?

I think it will. Probably just being optimistic though. My wife is wanting it to go thru all the hunts this year so they'd be bigger next year but I don't wanna wait! LOL! -
Yeah, in the same boat here. I did a little scouting before the shutdown, but not as much as I would have liked to. Even if the Feds reopen before Seg A, it will be a mad scramble for some people that haven't scouted.
From what someone had posted, Gail was quoted as saying Seg A would role over into next year if that Segment wasn't conducted this year. Probably the same for B and C. It would be nice to hear an official announcement on this.Comment

There was an email that came out from the Friends of Hagerman saying that if your segment was closed due to the shutdown you had two options. Option one was to get a refund and option two was it would carry over to next years hunt.Comment

They won't make an announcement until that week. They'll make **** sure it's either gonna happen or not before they let everyone know. Things are going to get interesting come the 17th since that's when the debt ceiling is reached. I just hope it's sooner than later or I'd prefer it to not happen this year. I don't wanna get told the 30th that it's happening and then have to scout and hang my stand the 31st but I will if that's what happens. I sure hope it happens. I didn't get drawn this year but my odds should be good to get drawn next year so if this gets pushed then I'll have to wait two years to get drawn again.Comment

Hope it doesn't happen to you. In the late 90's the goverment shut down on the first day of the segment B hunt I was drawn for. That was when the hunts were Friday noon to Monday noon. They rescheduled the hunt for mid December of the same year. It stunk because the rut was over during the reschedule, while on the weekend of the originally scheduled hunt bucks were chasing does everywhere during a cold front and light snow flurries.Comment
