    2 Questions

    1. If you can only make it to your hunting area every 2 or 3 weeks or maybe longer if you live far away, will hand corning ONLY when you go be effective? Just wondering since deer may not be used to it if you are not doing it frequently.

    2. Are these effective and what is your experience with.....?

I have a spot on my lease that has a 20' ladder stand and no feeder. I will spread a 40lbs bag of corn every few weeks in a half circle around the stand to about 30 yards. The corn will last between 7-10 days before they clean it all up. I did this because after setting the stand up on what I thought was a great funnel I found the deer cutting the corner by 40 yards and going behind some thick ceders. In the 8 weeks or so I have done this (spread corn 3 times) they have changed their path.

      So yes it helps IMO

IMO...I would just hand corn. I hand corn as soon as I get to the lease, and hunt it the entire weekend putting out some fresh corn each time I hunt. In my experience, if you are on a well traveled area, they will find it in less than 24 hrs.

I have a spot I just hand corn. I ask the other guys on the lease to put out corn for me if I can't make it. 50 lbs. spread out will last a while. Just don't put it in a pile.

I set up a mineral station on my lease this year. I see they eat it " Deer Cane Black Magic" but they seem to really prefer the trophy rock I have next to it. I have yet to see any deer there while hunting, but have only hunted it once. I see tracks a lot. I hear bucks really like minerals, and will go to it, when they don't go to corn. I don't have camera's on it, nor have I hunted it much, so I have no idea if it is daytime use or nighttime. Hopefully it has helped improve antler quality and health of the heard.

Oh, hand corning doesn't work for me, I have pigs. They find 40lbs of corn, and next morning it will be gone.

After your last hunt before leaving the lease put out a lot, as in the whole bag, in the spots your going to hunt your next time back. All the extra corn will keep them coming back for a few days and they'll keep coming by and checking for more for quite awhile. As for as the other attractants I've had good luck with hog wild using the above method, the stronger smell lets them know goodies have returned faster than just corn IMO.

How many trophy rocks would you put on 30 acres? At each bait location (5) or just 1 or 2?

we have a spot about 40 minutes away so we just feed corn and alpha and go back every 2-4 weeks, and thats our best spot out there.

If possible you could put a water tote and water trough out there. It will keep water for long time and keep them coming by. Dont know if its possible just thought id throw it out there.

Thanks. There is no water. Even the creek stays dry

Hand corning is definitely not as effective as you can't get out there much to do it. They key is to put it on a well used trail or crossing.

I throw out hand corn every time I hunt or fill feeders. Spread it all over and far as the minerals go, I had no luck with them.
