Live from Denton county

In the stand and ready to go! The deer have been coming in between 7 to 9... Hoping we get lucky and get a doe for my son! I think this is our best chance so far. After 9 sits we have learned allot about all the things you veterans know too well, but experience is everything and seeing how the deer act and smell and move has been enlightening to say the least. Huge challenge and NOW I understand what some of you wrote early on in September when I took up this little addiction called bow hunting!!!!

Wind is perfect, out of the nnw and with the rain we made a quiet entry at a place I think the deer were not put on notice of our arrival (i hope). I made sure every piece of clothing was washed, scent sprayed and bagged till we got to the land..... I have done everything y'all suggested and that I have learned.... Hope to report a first bow and first deer kill this beatiful 50 degree morning!

I don't get it, 4 mornings in a row between 7 and 9 tons of action... I am here and nothing! I have tried to make sure I am not doing any thing to tip em off I am here but it's gotta be some thing like that right? I don't know..... Not over yet this morning

Darn! Well I saw the deer eating till 10 to 10:30 on the cameras, so I will see how long my son can last.... Hopefully at least till 10am then we will call it for the morning I guess.... :-(

Well, at 9:10 we had two doe and a small buck drop into the creek bed, the younger doe went for the feeder with little reservation but the buck and older doe stayed up on the opposite bank checking it out.... Not sure if they smelled us or what but the other doe hesitated when she noticed the other two didn't come down, after about a minute she went in for food and set up 10 yards broadside..... My son got up and drawn without being busted even though he was shaking like he had Parkinson's.... Put the shot on her and hit high, we are at a steep angle and he got so excited he forgot to aim low for the angle.... I believe he had the sight on her heart but the angle and the short distance he hit above the lungs, I hoped he got enough penetration to get a lung because it was steep as I said.... We couldn't find blood and we looked for two hours, now I have a buddy coming to help.... I am so upset that we might not find this doe, first shot ever at a deer for either of us, disappointing but we will go look for another couple hours and keep out fingers crossed......
