For the first time in over 25 years I'm hunting a place with no cows on it. It is great for a lot of reasons. The native grass is tall, not chewed down to a nub. When you find a trail, you know it's a game trail. No need for feed pens. I don't take a slingshot to the blind anymore. When you hear something walking up behind you, you know it is either a pig or a deer. I know dealing with cows is just part of the program in Texas - they mean more to the rancher than a hunter does, but this has been a nice break from all that.
I don't hunt anything but pigs at this place--and only from Jan-Aug. I have a pen up around the feeder during those months. And, I carry my flipper (slingshot) and have a rubber blunt in the quiver. I don't use marbles though--I go to TSC and buy 5/16" nuts from the bulk hardware aisle--or, I go to the berm at the pistol range and dig 9mm bullets out of the dirt. Either will make a cow haul beef.
Where I have cattle were I hunt I have set up to feeders.
One is were cattle can get some corn.
The other have fence around bottom is 30" off ground for hogs top is at 5' for deer to get in
