I'm under a union contract, and a RAMS maintenance system. I spend about 6 hours in my chair on my phone. I've wanted to get rid of it, but there is only so many ceiling tiles to count.

Half the people looking at this thread are probably doing it on a smart phone.
My supervisor told me that he would never leave his flip phone. "If they can't talk to me at that time, I don't need to talk to them".
Then he got a smart phone about a year ago. Now he claims that he never knew how he lived without it. He almost never calls anymore and just sends a short text unless it is something long winded.. which it usually isn't.
If you don't have one and don't want one, great. But when away from the desk at work or home and for looking at upcoming rain storms, reading and commenting forums (like this one), answering emails, looking at breaking news like the current Capitol shooting, viewing videos, doing live hunts, taking very good photos and being able to send them without going home to upload it into a computer and then email it, paying bills while sitting in a deer stand in south Texas because in your rush to go hunting you forgot to pay an important one (ask me how I know), depositing checks without having to go to the bank, finding your way if you don't have your vehicle GPS with you, listening to radio stations, listening to music without having to have a separate MP3 player, making last minute changes to your Fantasy Football team when not at home or at work ........................
A smart phone is just about the only way to go.

I got rid of mine last year and went back to the $14.99 basic phone. Lasted a whole year. Got a smart phone last month becouse they are down to $100 with no contract. And I purely use it for the occiasnal games...that is all. I don't do social media and have quite an exciting life...no need to live in my phone like most brain dead people.

I honestly think if your work would allow you to ditch the phone and you wished to do so, you would be just fine not connected!
My 2 cents. ha.

I don't have a smart phone and don't plan on having one. I don't have enough time in the day now to do the things I need to do much less spend time glued to my phone. I hate texting- the only time I do it is when a buddy and I are hunting and we send each other messages. My wife's son is irritating as heck- he will send his mother a text and she will call him right back and he won't answer the phone. But if you send him a text after you hang up he will respond back. Young people today are not learning how to socialize with people because they can't get off their phone long enough.
