OT: Blackpowder Question

Anybody know where to get the old fashioned blackpowder? I've been gettin the itch to get my old muzzleloader out and can't seem to find the real stuff. I've never shot Pyrodex or any of the other stuff. Been a long time since I've shot this gun. But for some reason it's been callin my name!

Most gun stores will keep Goex black powder if they have the proper storage for it.

the pyrodex is easy as can be to use, and it is readily available...

Do you load the pyrodex exactly the same as the BP?

My side lock Hawken does not like Pyrodex. It tends to misfire real regular like. I haven't shot it in so long, I forget where I was buying my powder. I remember it was a town up towards Gainesville.

It was Southmayd. There at least used to be a gun shop that sold it here. That was the closest place to me here in Allen.

pyrodex is loaded the same, if you choose to luse the loose powder...I prefer the 777 pellets, they come in 30 or 50 grain. Have never had an issue with them at all

Side locks will not ignite the pellets.
