When checking one of my stand sites I noticed a single bed. I believe this to be a buck. I plan on hunting this site in the morning Saturday. But since there's a new moon this weekend I was wondering if there's a possibility the buck would bed at night and get up and feed in the morning? I know this early I should leave the bed alone but it is also a pinch point the deer travel on a consistent basis.

I'll answer this. Yes they do. I see the same deer every night across the road in my neighbors small pasture. Does and yearlings....but their there every night. 50 feet inside of the fence under the trees. I have a spot 100 feet behind my house that I dump all the grass and leaves out of my yard. In the winter the mulch goes through a heat process and stays warm. I have seen as many as 7 deer laying out there on top of those piles of mulch. I discovered this several years ago because I stepped on one walking out back to sit in a stand. Stepped right on her head. If you got does bedding down during rut you can bet there's a buck not far away watching.

Deer bed both day and night. I read a study years ago on this that was done on a Louisiana pine plantation done with tracking collars on an equal number of does, bucks, yearlings etc and this was what the findings were:With zero pressure deer spend 50% of their time up during the day and 50 at night. After opening week of deer season(significant increase in pressure) they shifted to 75% movement at night and 25 during the day. By the last part of gun season they were up to 95% nocturnal. Factors like rut timing skew the results because bucks will be on their feet. So the answer is yes and no depending on pressure.
