School me on Easton arrow shaft codes

Yeah I know that this could sound a little silly...

Will somebody PLEASE help me understand Easton`s arrow shaft codes?

My bow is set a 65 pounds at 29``according with the chart the arrows should be either the 2413 or the 2315 BUT I heard that we must try several shaft sizes in order to see which one suits better our setup

Well I ain`t got money to buy and start trying each shaft size so your directions to find me the correct arrow shaft size will be greatly appreciated as always.

    Good day to everyone!

Those are aluminum shaft codes. The first 2 numbers are dia in 1/64's. ( 23/64 ot 24/64) The second is wall thickness in 1/1000's. (13 is .013 and 15 is .015)

On the Easton chart for aluminums they will give you a range of shaft sizes that will work. Basicially you have three options depending on what you're looking for, a lighter arrow for more speed, an average size and a thicker walled, heavier arrow for penetration. The 2413 is a thinner walled, larger diameter arrow that is on the light side. The 2315 is the "compromise" average size. There is probably a 2217 or similar on the list too that would be your smaller diameter, thick walled heavier arrow. All the shaft size the list will work.

What bow are you shooting? Cam configuration would be what I used to determine the arrow. Mild cam, 2413, hard cam, 2315. Unless you really are looking for speed, then stick with the 2413.

I would go with the heavier of the two....but you will be the one that will be shooting the bow...your local archery shop should be able to help you decide on an arrow, as they should have some arrows for you to try....(the arrows might not be the right length but you can tell allot by their expert advice)...

It`s a Hoyt`s Rampage XT brother, talking about only these two sizes 2413 and 2315 which one is lighter and has less outside diameter? I don`t want one that is very heavy

My guess is both arrows are the same outside diameter. It is the inside that makes the difference.

The 2413 should be the lighter of the two. If you put them on a scale, they probably are pretty close to the same.

Let me see if I understand...the higher the second number is the lighter the arrow will be or the opposite??? I`m very confused

Hope this helps some. It is Easton Arrow Shaft Selector software.

You can find that the spine is a tad different, so is the weight.

It's the opposite. a 2315 would have a wall thickness of .15", the 2413 would be .13". I would recommend the 2315, when I shot aluminum arrows I used 2314s in XX75 and XX78 and there were great arrows. Not too heavy but had enough mass to make a good hunting arrow and flew great .

According to my Easton Hunting catelog in front of me,

2315 weigh 11.7 grain and spine at .340
2413 wiegh 10.4 grain and spine at .365 (weaker spine than the 2315, but not much).

That said, I recommend the Axis Full Metal Jacket 340 spine weighing 11.3 grains.

2413 would be a great arrow if you want to stick with aluminum. Killed several pigs and deer with them.
