    Blind Window Shoot Tru Tip

I have seen several posts about shoot through mesh screen lately.

Here is what I do. A buddy turned me on to this a few years back. I am using it on permanent blinds that I have built or bought and made efforts to seal off so that they are as scent free as possible. It can be used on pop ups but the scent free aspect is lost on them.

Instead of the screen use celopane food wrap. I duct tape mine in place. My buddy installed plexiglass around his window openings and it just sticks there on its own.

If the inside of your blind is dark the deer cannot see in.

The celopane is easier to see through and has zero affect on arrow flight. If some of you guys are worried about open on impact heads this could solve your problems.

Due to my blinds being so well sealed I had some condensation problems. I solved this by using a small computer fan and a feeder battery. The fans are cheap, quiet and run forever on one charge.

I hope this can be of some help.

Hmmm, interesting. The main reason I don't use mesh is I can't see through it very well - it seems to distort my depth perception. I will have to experiment this but I have a question. Can't they see through the wrap just like a clear window? Is it tinted? The point of using mesh is to conceal movement, right?

The inside of my blinds are painted black. I wear a black face mask, shirt and glove. The celophane will have a slight glare on it also. Killed deer so close that the arrow barely cleared the window.

BTW it definitely will be harder to see through the open hole you are looking through now.

Thanks, I will give it a try - I wonder if tinted window film would work?

It should. I have thought about using the green that comes out around Christmas time. I have not tried it as I have not had a problem with the clear and because I figure the clear is easier to see through during low light conditions.

What happens to it on a windy day?

              I don't understand.

I have come back 4 weeks later and the mesh is still there. I have never had a weather problem, wind, rain etc.

Cellophane plastic wrap on a windy day sounds like it would give and bow while blowing in the wind.

I've never had that problem. Window is pretty small and celophane is stretched tight.

I'm not sure what the point of using cellophane would be. Deer can see right thru it the same as an empty hole. Why cover it with anything? The point of mesh is to keep the inside hidden and it does that pretty well. Cellophane won't keep anything hidden.

                    Just thinking out loud...

Never heard of that but seems like a good idea

On a fixed blind it will contain your scent...

Not really. Did you read MA Elite's thread on the blind he build out of stone and mortar last year? Its completely sealed and he still got busted while in the blind.

The inside of my blinds are black and I wear black, and when I was shooting at deer 20-25 yards away I never got busted. Now that I'm shooting a longbow and hand corning 12 yards away, I feel like I'm getting seen....

(The key would be how much it hurts you in low light.) The inside of my blinds are black and I wear black, and when I was shooting at deer 20-25 yards away I never got busted. Yep that might work better but you're right....low light might be an issue. I hate hunting a pop-up in the late evening because it seems like you lose 5-10 minutes of shooting time. You unzip and get out and you realize its alot lighter outside than it is inside....lol.

Another thing too is using a range finder. My mesh screens slide over and I can use one easily. I don't think they will shoot thru cellophane....but I haven't tried it.
