    Question

I got my first bow kill yesterday but didn't recover my arrow until today when I had more daylight. I found the arrow and, except for a very tiny spot on one of the fletchings, there is no evidence that this arrow ever actually passed through a deer.

Most arrows I've seen afterwards had a pretty good bit of blood on them, this one looks like it's ready to go again right now.

    Is that normal?

Normal? NO Does it happen? Yes A lot of it depends on shot placement.

Not the guy to answer your question, as I'm still working on getting my 1st bow kill. However, congratulations are in order for your 1st.

What did it go through after the deer? Did It rain? Morning dew? Where did you hit the deer?

I shot a pig Saturday afternoon that I doubled lunged but my arrow passed threw a pile of buffle grass and it was wiped clean. Pig went 25 yard with a blood trail a 3 year old could follow. So it's happens. Especially in the am with wet grass or a heavy dew.

              I've had it happen.
Years ago I shot at a small buck right at last light. I thought I missed and upon recovering the arrow, there was not a drop of blood on it. I went back to the truck and home.
Came back the next morning intending to hunt the same stand and about 100 yds from the stand I almost tripped over the deer! The arrow hit the liver but left no blood. Guess I should have smelled it, but I was sure I had missed!
