Got drawn for Big Lake Bottom, 1st time for any draw hunt. Curious to know how they assign compartments/units. Can you ask for a certain spot, or do they draw a number etc. I wouldn't know which to pick anyway but would like to know what to expect. My son and I got drawn, so will we be in the same one? (hopefully)

i called and talked to a guy at the place i drew. he said they let you pick your spot based on the order you were drawn. each person on your card hunts the same compartment. -

On all of the ones I have been to it works something like this. Show up and sign in, at that time you write down your choices for compartment (usually 1st, 2nd, 3rd) and they take notes of what you are driving and how many hunters in your group.
Then while orientation is going on the choices are gone through by the other staff and you are assigned a compartment. After orientation someone will go out with you and show you the boundaries and other notable info.
If there are 2 in your group you might be put with another group. They do not split groups.
I would call Gus Engeling office and see if they can fax you a map of Big Lake since they cover Big Lake. I am pretty sure Jennifer is the lady's name who works the office at GEComment
