Need advice-yes or no on pop up set up

Going to lease Fri., due to unforeseen circumstances, will get there late. Have not set up blind for bowhunting. Would I be totally screwing up if I set it out early Sat morn before hunt? I hate doing that but don't really want to sit out in the open with little or no cover.

every time I've set one up, even if I brush it in good, they bust me the first few hunts...

Brush it in until you can not tell its a blind. I hunt public land and have to take my popup out every time and have had good luck doing this.

Yeah, it's going to be tricky. Man I hate this situation. We were supposed to get setup last week but couldn't go. Then we were supposed leave early Fri. but that got changed to late aftnoon. It's either try to sit in brush, which there is little (mesquites), set up the blind (in the dark), or just sit in box blind and watch.

I shot a big doe out of one a few years back...set it up at 2 pm, climbed in about 3:30 and shot her at about 4 pm. She knew something wasn't right but calmed enough for me to get a shot. I guess she didn't realize I had a 30 yard pin! The more you make it hide the better but most times they will know something is amiss...at least in my experience. I am doing the same thing on the same ranch this weekend...hope to get lucky again!

i dont see that you have much choice really. my experience is it takes a couple weeks for deer not to spook from a new pop-up. the better its brushed in, the better it will be accepted.......

Either set up the blind or don't hunt, that is my advice. I would set up the blind and hunt, you never know.

I would, not much different than stalk hunting and sitting up next to a tree near a game trail.

Yeah. Guess I will give it a try. Has to be better than just sitting in a brush pile! lol. And I know it's better than not hunting at all! There is an old corral close to my feeder and hunting area. May try to slip in there, probably won't see as much and for sure no shot at feeder but might keep it from spooking any game. Thanks for the help guys, just needed a little support to build my confidence.

I'd say trim some brush up to create natural blind for the hunt, and before you leave deploy your pop-up. You can use the materiel for the natural blind to help blend in your pop-up.

Just take the time to brush it in that night very well, even if you have to bring in brush from another area. Like they said a couple of post up. The deer will know something is not right but they will come on in to the feeder Cautiously.

I would just find a place to set or stand but I don't care for pop ups

Sey it up late friday night when you get to the lease. Brush it in well and then add more brush. Go back Saturday morning and hunt.

I set mine up on Friday afternoon and saw deer all weekend. (Unfortunately none on the hit list though)

Just take care when you set it up, a little brush is OK, but I don't go wacky with it (unless it is laying around). Hit it with a few squirts of your favorite scent killer, and hunt it up.

Use the mesh for a while, it is less spooky looking than a black hole until they get used to its presence.

I have always had to rely on blind hunting, as much as I love spot-n-stalk, it just can't be done at my lease. You can set a hot pink blind out, and in a couple of weeks, they won't give it a second look.

Every time I hunted Cart Valley Wildlife I set up a new blind and never had an animal see me. Swirling wind, different story though

I also got my first deer ever in a ground blind I set up that afternoon.

I say go for it, worse thing that happens is you get to spend some time hunting...oh no
