    ATTN: Oil Field Workers

Does anyone know anything about working for Helmerich and Payne? A friend of mine works there and I'm wondering if anyone on the GS has anything good to say about that company.

Also, do any of you recommend going into the field?

Man we do service work on there rigs and they are a very safety oriented company I think if was to ever go work on a rig I would go to them.

Good company and they pay pretty good. Might as well go into the field now is a good time to take in all the knowledge and move up quick.

Lots of guys are "hard workers" but rig work is good for a man to see what hard work really is

Heard they are a very good company to work for & have some of the best iron in the oilfield.

If I were to go work on a rig it would be, and only be, for H&P. Very safety oriented company.

H&P is a very well run company with the best safety record of all the land drillers IMO.

I'm an MWD, and I've worked on several H&P, Nabors, Patterson, and Latshaw rigs. H&P stands far and above the others. The rig locations are ALWAYS much better maintained and as mentioned above, safety is the #1 factor. If you do it, you better make dang sure you're ready to bust butt for awhile. Worms always get the worst of the worst jobs, but there's no better way to learn. Starting out around 60K isnt bad at all when you really only work half the year. Your 2 weeks off will fly by but you'll know for sure when you're going to be off, something I certainly envy. A man can make a great living on the side as well with his two weeks off at a time. But I can't say it enough, be ready to work 12 hours in a row for 14 days in a row.
