    Large pig traps

Has anyone had any success with trapping multiple pigs in one large pen? I've seen videos on YouTube. Iam thinking of trying this method on my lease as the pigs have completely destroyed out place the last couple years. Please share your info, tips, strategies if you have. I hunt on a large lease in East Texas. Thanks in advance!

We always built figure six traps. Used to catch 20+ pigs at once

They get trap smart quickly…so if these haven’t dealt with traps before, build a big one and do it right…so that you get the whole heard the first time. Don’t skimp on the t-post and use tall panels. Good luck.

+1 on the above 2 post and use a lot of tie wire on each steel post.

Yep, plenty of t-posts, no gate. I've had good luck using the BIG zip ties to fasten the panels to the t-posts.

I have a round pen trap built out of 6 panels-96' total length, plus a 4' trap door for 100' circumference total, about 33' across. I sit a 55-gal feeder in the center and it throws out to the "fence line" and maybe a bit beyond. I've caught as many as 16 at once trapping in it. Having said that, I caught 13 once in a figure-6 trap built from 3 panels, and 12 in an 8'x4' box trap. You can save the expense of the door/gate on the large pen by building the figure-6 out of more panels, making it larger. I think the large size advantage is due to a bunch more animals getting in before one trips the trap. I tend to put a lot of feed about halfway between the door and the trip rope/wire so they pile in and head to the corn pile and stop while more come in behind them. Eventually one of them gets farther into the trap and slam goes the door/gate.
