Having kids that hunt and hunting a East Texas hunting club doesn't leave dad with many opportunities to have a shot on a deer.
This year I received a invitation to join a bow only lease in Lee Co. At first I said no but after thinking about it and talking to my wife, we decided better do it while the spot was available
It was late but did manage to get a feeder up along with a pop up and I was ready.
I was later getting to the lease Friday night that I wanted to be, so Micheal (Brazoshunter) pulled my camera card for me. No big bucks but lots of does and young bucks. I was stoked to say the least. Rained on and off Saturday and into this morning. But as soon as it quit we headed out. 2 doe were at the feeder when I got there so I watched from the tree line till they walked off. Finally about 8:00 I climbed into my pop up. About 8:45 the 2 came back. Twice I drew back but had to let down. She knew exactly where NOT to be. They finally walked off.
I was disappointed but also happy to be seeing deer. And I decided that I was staying in the stand till something was hit or dark.
At about 12:30 they came back. She drive me crazy for 40 mins. Drew back on her once again and waited for her to take that last step. Nope, she turned around!! Let down and they heard it. But they stopped at 35yds and came back in.
.
Finally she was heading to the feeder from right to left. She went behind the big oak in front of me and I drew. She walked right up to the feeder at 22 yds. Moved that left leg forward and I released. She ran out to about 75 yds still in sight, wobbled a little then walked around some trees/brush. I knew I hit her but was worried because I didn't see me arrow. Come to find out, it passed through, skipped up and went 45yds into a bush. It was solid red.
, and she didn't go another 20 yds. Hit a little high and back but the slick trick did the job.

My phone died so this was the only LDP I got.
but trust me I won't forget this for a long time. I have shot pigs before but not a deer.
