Another Great POC Trip with Brunner

I had scheduled another trip with Ross for my wife's birthday Saturday. We arrived Friday evening and relaxed over a few beers and supper at Bubba's seafood and Steaks in Seadrift (highly recommended). Met Ross at the ramp at 6:45 Saturday morning. The wind was pretty tough and we were not able to get out to the Jetties but Ross was confident we would catch some fish. We went to some flats and in just a little while Ross had us on the fish.

Connie with a nice 27.75" Red.

    Me with a good Red.

Had a great time catching fish in the skinny water. Probably caught 30 or so Reds before heading to some deeper water.

Once we had all the fun we could stand in shallow water we headed out to try something a little different. We set up with some bigger tackle and had a blast. Connie drew first blood with an undersize Red Snapper. I was next with a big Black Drum. Give up is not in their vocabulary and they give an amazing fight especially in a heavy outgoing tide.

If there is a Stingray anywhere in the area my wife will catch it. The picture does not do it justice, it was a big Stingray. These guys will feel like they are stuck to the bottom. She wanted to give up but we would not let her.

Next rattle out of the box Connie hooks into another big Black Drum,

She fought him as long as she could before I took over.

    Group Effort.

Before heading in Connie caught her first Shark. A little Bonnethead.

What we brought in to filet.

We had a great time fishing with Ross (again). Later Saturday night Ross was playing an acoustic set at the Cantina so we went over and had a few beers and listened to him sing.

If you want to go fish with a quality guide and an all around great guy give Captain Ross Brunner a try. We are already planning our next trip, a cast and blast in November.

        Congratulations guys!!

        Well done Ross!

I hit the National Seashore Saturday. Sunup at the 20 mile mark, dusky Anchovies by the millions migrating south. First fish hooked, casting a paddle tail "chicken on a chain - charty tail" up tight against the sand, got stripped off completely. Fish nailed my bait and proceeded to head due east, never letting up, spooling my Curado filled with 10lb test Flurocarbon LOL!
