My First Opening Weekend

Well this was my first bow season- I've only had my bow since January of this year. I sat out Saturday morning, evening, and this (Sunday) morning. Didn't see anything worth taking. Just a couple of doe with two fawn each. Also saw a great 8-pt buck, probably 2.5 yrs old. Definitely promising.

Not expecting my first kill to be any sort of trophy, but I'm hopeful for next time!
Was still nice just being able to get away for the weekend and spend time with my fiance... but now back to reality. sigh... Y'all have a good week- especially to those hunting!

PS- does anyone have tricks for getting gnats to repel without repelling any deer or hog or anything else with a nose!? lol they were killin us this weekend.

Wasn't very effective it worked repelling mosquitoes, not so much gnats.

I'm sure you'll get your 1st bow kill soon enough. With all my years of hunting, I couldn't tell you what product out there that will work for those pestering gnats with out spooking the games away, I just gotten use to them after a while.

Thermocells don't work on flies or gnats.

gnats are the Debil!!
Nothing gets rid of them and they fly up your nose and into your ears!! Pesky little buggers...

Figured I'd bring it back to the top with a few pics. I was so exited for her first, it felt as if it was my own. We saw a good little bit of deer but only one buck on the list who just wouldn't give her a shot, then a doe ran him off she is all kinda exited to get back out and try again!
