If he doesn't wonder to far from the feeder then why not wait.

If it matters, I'd age him at 4.5 so two more years might be all he has left in growth.
    Then he'll start down hill.

I'd let the air out of him next year in a perfect world. It would depend on if anyone lose hunts the area and if I've consistently seem him the past few years.

If I thought someone else might take him this year or I wasn't sure id see him again, I wouldn't feel bad about taking him this year.

              I agree that he's 4.5.

If you have the acreage and no one else around to shoot him. My luck he would get hit by a car like the one I let go years ago.

This is our first year on this lease. There's 10 others on my lease licking their chops for the horns on this place.

That has not been my experience. I like to let a buck go until he is at least 7.5 years old. I've even seen bucks at their best at 10.5 years old. But I am high fenced and don't have to worry someone else killing them. The longer you can let him go the better. Then wait for a good wet year and take him out at 7.5 years old or older.

Shoot him now, at 4.5. I don't have high fence breeder experience, but I have not seen much growth between 4.5 and 6.5.
