    Rain predicted opening weekend 2013

Per the forecast for north Texas, rain is predicted for Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

How will the rain affect your decision when picking your hunting spot?

Would you hunt your preferred spot Saturday or Sunday based on forecast?

My pop-up will be dry no matter what the weather does. I won't hunt the ladder until much later in the season.

With the wind switching like it's going to. I will hunt primary spot Saturday and auxiliary Sunday. I have my primary setup for south winds. Since we usually see that during bow season. It will be interesting to see what moves Sunday. I will be sitting on a corned road. So, a lot will be out range. But, I will get to see a lot more area.

Both of these will be pop-up blinds. So, rain doesn't affect me. The wind is what is driving the decision.

Hopefully it misses the San Angelo area for three days.. Looks like 30% on Sat for us..

Either way, the boxes will be dry but the roads could be interesting.

I will be in a big box blind with my son. It is a bow/gun blind. Let it rain. He gets first dibbs at the critters. He is ready to stick something.

please be spotty extremely hard rain.

there is nothing more magical to me (besides fog) as a massive storm and the calm after or in between.

Deer will be all over feeding areas if thats the pattern. Ill be wet and ready to hunt.

I wouldn't make the same mistake as last year and hunt a tripod opening morning.

                  this ^^^

if its actively raining, i'm only thinking about staying dry.
But Sat night before it starts raining, could it be a hot time to hunt?....or even Sat morning before the weather system comes in?

                    Plan to be flexible.

I have a wooden ground blind that I can anyting but a west wind. I don't really like to hunt the feeder in the evenings as the deer tend to linger around for some time after dark.

                    Hopefully it's a scattered rain.

Bring it on nothing better than a cool rainy opening day.

yesterday, our area showed 20%, and now it shows 60% for saturday.

i'll be in a pop-up either way, and hopefully it won't be a down pour.
let the clouds break after a rain, the sun come out, and the animals just seem to revive as mentioned above.

I've been looking at the weather guessers forecast and I may just wait till Sunday to make the drive down to the lease. I still remember the flood we got last year on the opener and being stuck in a travel trailer all weekend is not what I call fun.

Let it rain...I'll never complain about the rain, because there have been too many days without it for the last few years.....

Same exact thing happened last opener. No rain in forever and then it hits Saturday morning. I'm still going and hoping its spotty.
