Early season calling or rattling

Who does it and what is most effective.

I have heard that early season calling or rattling is a waste of time. What about doe or fawn calls?

I've never had success with it.

I've still got all my deer coming to feeders. But I'm more interested in a doe, prob wait till rut is in full swing so I can see if I can rattle Ol Sad Daddy in. One buck county sucks
