    Help

My dad is having electricity run out to his property and the electric company said he has to have another post for the "breaker box"/"electric box" and it has to be a minimum of 4' in the ground and 18' above the ground.

Any ideas of what we should use, and where to get them?

Also best ways to stand the sucker up? We have a tractor/back hoe

I also had to do the same, it is called a meter loop supplied by an electrician. They have them already made up and I sat mine with a tractor front end loaded. The electrician will set it up

Keep an eye out on craigslist. I have seen some there from time to time. If you already have a meter can and main disconnect check with the phone Co and elect Co to see if they have any old poles you can buy.

I got my treated post at the local lumber yard when I had my electricity brought into my property. Might check with McCoy's.

You will need the pole, the meter loop with main breaker and you might need to supply the ground rod with wire as well. When I worked at Nueces Elec Co-op (back in the 80s when dirt was still new!) we would supply the pole and ground rod but required the customer to supply the meter loop.

Check with your electric company and see if they will sell you the pole with grounding ready to go. By the time you track one down and do the labor it will likely be cheaper to pay them to do it. If you want to have fun digging a 4' x 14" hole, standing the pole and driving an 8'x 5/8" copper rod then I would do as other have suggested, check with phone and cable company or maybe Craig's list.
