    Moon Phase?

how does moon phases effect deer movement? Also what is your favorite moon to hunt?

A lot of previous topics over the year. But for me, I don't care much about moon phase because a bad day of hunting is better than a good day of (you fill in the blank).

Deer feed at night during full moom more than no moon. So this changes feeding patterns. I love to hunt after the 3rd day of no moon. The deer are usually feeding during daylight hours more. Lots of previous topics if you search.

Also when the moon is full or close to it. I like to hunt middle of day near bedding areas.

I have heard there are high amounts of movement when the moon is straight above an area, as well as straight below on the opposite side of the world.

This would further strengthen the idea that they move in a full moon at night, because a full moon occurs when the moon is directly above at night. Also they can see better.

I have never found that the moon phase made any difference in deer movement where I have hunted....lately scientific studies have shown the same thing.

there are many apps available on your phone that show the current moon phase and their "prediction" of when the animals will move based on the moon phase.

There may be something to it, but I just hunt when I can, every time I can. The moon never really figures in to my plans.

Just read an interesting article in Buck Masters debunking most moon theories. I believe it was in the August or September issue. i will try to find it and see if there is an online version.

I used several iPhone programs and lunar wheels over the years and the results have been random.

It seemed to coincide with the deer movement that I saw first hand and also on trail cams last year. I didn't not hunt because the moon wasn't right, I'd go anyways, but the days that I saw almost zero movement were the days on the app where it was predicted there would be little to no movement.

Guess its not like when I was in school. Skip homeroom and 1st period to hunt and make the rest of the day, unless I got a deer down. Mom was always curious how I could miss 19 days one semester in 1st period and then only 6 for.the other classes.

Scientific data also told us to kill spikes, they'd never be trophy. My grandad on the other hand said let's spikes ride & see what they become, he also hunted by moon phase.

I will say that moon phase become less impactful once guns start going boom & deer are just trying surviv in order to propagate the species. But during how season where very few outside influences exist, i see more deer during traditional lunar phase periods (ie midday deer at full moon, early morn late eve at new.)

I wish I could do that seeing as where I hunt is 10 minutes down the road from where I hunt
