Coffee in treestand?

I usually kill a cup before I walk out to my tree stand. I've been tempted to take a Thermos with me but I've always been paranoid of deer smelling it.

Does anyone take coffee up in the tree with them? Will it spook the deer?

My stepdad use to all the time. Heck, he killed his biggest buck in a stand while eating a bowl of cereal.

If they smell the coffee they would smell you too anyway........ Just something to think about.

I don't when bow hunting but I will when rifle hunting. Just depends on my mood

I use skunk scent every year!!!! Every time!!! Killed the 14pt buck in my avatar 36yrds down wind. Buck stopped once he got in scent cone nose went up and never got nervous! Use that and you can drink extra strong coffee they will never smell you.

But yes in my experience any unnatural smell will get you busted. Coffee cologne etc.

Ill take a thermos to the box, but only water to the bow stand.

i have carried coffee with me before and saw lots of deer, i don't know if the smell would spook 'em or not but i usually have the wind in my face.

Amen to that.....I'd be more concerned about the "activity" it would cause than the smell of the coffee itself......

+2 on this one!! I took coffee with me one time and, well....it ended with me having to crawl out of a tripod very quickly.

When it's real cold I'll take a thermos with coffee. Never noticed any difference. Still have deer come in and still killing them, and I hunt public land where they are really nervous anyway. Of course I usually don't eat or drink much during prime deer movement times where I hunt.
