Just an idea, but why not just seed on top of the ground and see what happens? I had corn growing under my feeder last year and wheat seed often sprouts where it's spilled. I took a spreader yesterday and heavily seeded a pretty good plot around my feeder. Either it will work or it won't, but wheat seed is about $23 per 50lbs so I figured I'd take a chance.
