    Moving a "BIG" gun safe?

Anyone have any ideas on moving a gun safe? I'm out of strength and it still hasn't budged. I dont want to hire out a safe company but....

Roll it on golf balls. You'll need quite a few but just keep moving the ones coming out the back around to the front. Works like a champ!

After I helped my father in law put his 55 gun browning medallion safe at 1,350 lbs their gameroom, I swore Id pay some poor sap to do that again.

Took us all day. Hardest part was getting it over the brick threshold into the house. Then we moved it on dowl rods. Tried to use dollys and slide it on rugs but it was just to much to handle.

      Good luck.

              A safe mover....

......told me you can use a bunch of golf balls to move them around. I moved my one personal safe from my daughters room into mine +/-1500lbs when she was born. I went down to the rental place and cannot remember for the life of my what they are called but come in a pack of 4 and have rotating tops w/ two very large roller wheels. Don't hurt yourself and get help.

My big / business safe is +/-6000lbs and took a dozen guys & a 4 wheeler to move it 20 miles in 4 hours. Their 1st attempt broke their wench as the heavy duty wheels on the special dollies plowed the asphault when it came of the concrete. It was really something. Some strange safe that came from South Africa made in 1983 called Brishoff that was stored in warehouse one town over. I made a great deal on the safe but cost $500 to get it moved!! Tried to do some research on it but can't find much about it. Had to make my own shelves but I saved a lot of $$$$ compared to the $3500.00 AM/SEC I wanted.

                Safe moving

Tilt up one side put some golf balls under that side, put back up. roll it a little ways and keep putting golf balls under the front.
Learned this from a guy who said he learned this from a safe thief
this worked for me, but my safe is only about five feet tall and 2 and a half feet square.

                Everybody beat me to it.

In my younger years I worked for a banking equipment company. Use to move 20000lb vault doors, big safes and safety deposit boxes. We used 1/2" to 1" steel roller bars. Just got 3 or 4 that are about 3' long. Put them under the safe broadside to the way you want roll the safe. Move it and take the bar out of the back and put it in the front. Not hard but keep your hands out from under the safe!!!!!

I used to work for a commercial moving company and this is how we moved large safes all the time. I do recommend getting about 4 3x8 and 2 3x4 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood so that you don't damage any flooring. If you are moving it on concrete then you don't need the plywood.

We use the bar method all the time to move heavy stuff...you can put the bar in the front at an angle to turn...We can move equipment weighing 20,000lbs + with a couple of step jacks and 8 or 10 bars and just drive it right into place...

Safes are REALLY awkward with no handles though...I liked the idea of paying somebody $80 to do it LOL.

you could always call Buck Medley,
he could do this with one hand tied behind his back
