    FOBS: Semi long read

Anybody give these a try yet? I got some the other day after watching a video on you tube. They said you could shoot any broad head you wanted wanted. So I did a full day of testing.
I shot: 2 bld Zwiks at 150gr. 2 bld first cut at 145 gr. 100 gr slick trick. 125 gr phat head 4 bld. 65 gr. steel force titanium. And a first cut 2 bld 175 gr. with a 1 5/8 cut diam. While each broadhead hit its own spot, most shots were same hole or right at it. The FOB never came into contact with any part of the bow. The last 3 shot group was with the 175 first cut. The first two shots were dead on. The 3rd shot, the FOB hit the rest, popped off, and sent the arrow sailing into the field next door. Keep in mind this was the last shot of over 30 rounds. I love the idea of the FOB but now I'm a bit gun shy. I was shooting a 60# bow and 420gr arrow (weight without point) curious as to what anyone else thinks about these.

If you're changing the tip weights that much without changing the arrow spine, sounds like that's your biggest problem. O your bow/rest aren't tuned. I don't have any issues as well as many others on here. I love my FOBs and don't plan on going back to vanes anytime soon. They stabilize everything I shoot from Grim Reapers to Sonics to Slick Trick Mags. No Fob contact whatsoever.

Ok. Like I said, only one contact issue and I had shot the FOBS all day with some breaks in between. The one shot that did connect was the very last one of the day and I had already shot that setup several times so spine is not an issue. I like the FOBS and I am gonna continue to shoot them on the one bow. Thanks for the input my friend.

I spoke with the designer a couple years back. He was an engineer for one of our missiles, the Maverick if I remember correctly. Hard to turn a blind eye to that kind of technology. The FOBs really shine in higher winds.

I'm a fan of FOBs and had them on all my arrows I took to Africa.

True on the wind test. That was most impressive. I'm sure that one shot was some kind of human error. Just wish I could go back and look closer before the shot. Lol

I've got a PSE Evo, 56lbs, and a Limb Driver Pro rest and I haven't been able to get them to clear my rubber arrow holder. It's trimmed down as far as it can go.

Trash the rubber arrow holder and they will work. I am going to say this again, I have bowhunted for over 40 years from recurves to all the bells and whistles, from fingers and no sights to releases and sights, from tree stands, tripods, ground blinds and spot in stalk here, in Africa and New Zealand and I have never ever seen a need for a full capture rest or a rubber arrow holder. Not bashing anyone that uses them, I have just never seen the need for them. You can hunt and hunt very successfully with a bow on any hunt without those. FOB's are the bomb! Cannot see myself going back to regular fletching.

I just replaced the rubber holder In front of my drop away rest. Never had an issue with any contact at all. Keep working with it , it's worth it.

Ummm..... I wasn't trying to bash FOBS. Just through a question out there as to what could have happend on the last shot out of around 50 or so shots during the day. Though I have never been out of the country, I have 35 years of archery under my belt. On this particular bow, I'm using a drop zone by trophy ridge. The arrow setup was a Carbon Tech Rhino XP, FOB, and a 175gr. First cut 2 bld. Arrow weight total was somewhere in the 480 +\- range and bow was set at 60 pounds. This put me under the 9 gr/ # of total bow weight which is AMO standard. I shot this particular setup probably 6-7 times ( can't really remember now) without a problem. On the last shot is when things got crazy. I'm gonna say that maybe for whatever reason, the rest didn't fall fast enough or maybe the arrow wasn't sitting on the rest just right. None the less, I'm sticking with FOBS on this particar bow, and the drop zone and gonna go to straight slick tricks. Thanks so much for everyone's input.
