      I just replaced a stock OEM motorcraft battery that was 7yrs as well. I think there are only like 3-4 major battery makers in the US. I believe Motercraft battery is made by Johnson Controls which makes Interstate, Diehard, Duralast, everstart, etc.

        Optima batteries are good for someone who drives long trips every day because they dont recharge like a regular battery. If it is a vehicle sits alot then the battery will have to hooked up to a battery tender and trickle charged.
