At one time that was true. Unfortunately that is no longer the case.

That is what I have heard as well.

I got just one month shy of 7 years on a stock OEM Ford Motorcraft battery. Little over 100k miles. Daily driver and hunting on weekends.

When it died, it died slowly, I could tell it wasn't holding a full charge for about two weeks, then it just gave up and stranded me also.

I just replaced a stock OEM motorcraft battery that was 7yrs as well. I think there are only like 3-4 major battery makers in the US. I believe Motercraft battery is made by Johnson Controls which makes Interstate, Diehard, Duralast, everstart, etc.

Optima batteries are good for someone who drives long trips every day because they dont recharge like a regular battery. If it is a vehicle sits alot then the battery will have to hooked up to a battery tender and trickle charged.
