Has anyone had good luck with taking acorns from around the house and using as bait in west Texas (where there aren't oaks)?

I've done that a bunch and honestly never saw any difference. I took them to Archer City where there was not an acorn producing tree for 5 miles. Not sure the deer knew what they were. They would lay on the ground forever. Heck, the pigs didn't even eat them. Maybe someone else has a good luck story for ya.

I collect them every year. The deer on my place just kill em. Red oaks, live oaks, they hammer all of them. I always take my wet vac out into the front yard and suck all of them up and take them to the ranch in 5 gallon buckets. The people on my block always look at me like I'm nuts.
I get about 4 buckets per week when they really start dropping and I just can't get enough of them. I was shocked how hard they hammered them.
