How long can someone abandon a vehicle. There has been a car parked on our street for over a week and no sign of driver. I think he may live in car, but hadnt seen him. Doesn't make the mrs very happy.

There are state laws regulating abandoned and derelict vehicles and many cities have ordinances. Age, running condition, updated inspection/registration all matter.

call the city/cops, they will mark the tires and swing by and check to see if it's moved, they most likly run the plates and see if it belongs there, then leave a not. If the tags OR the inspection sticker is out, they can have it towed then

I had a abandoned van in my neighborhood. Got tired of looking at it so l called the Poe Poe & told them kids were skipping school and smoking pot in the van. It didn't stay there long.

I have called the police twice, and my wife has once. They say its parked legally and there is nothing that they can do. I feel like it has been so long they should put a sticker on it. He got one a few weeks back at a different location. When he did he moved it to our neighborhood.

I wish the cops around here would say that. I have my truck parked outside my fiancee's house. I walk out of the house in the morning and see an orange sticker on the windshield. It said that it was an abandoned vehicle, even though it has current tags and inspection but is not registered at the house it was parked in front of. I called and inquired why it got stickered and the cop told me that if a vehicle is parked in the street for more than 24 hours and has not been moved then it is considered abandoned by state law.

My next door neighbor got his car tagged sitting in his driveway because the registration and inspection was out on it. He also had a couple old cars sitting in the back corner of his lot covered up and was told to get rid of them. He was trying to find some place to go with them and they called him to court (this was within 3 days of being told to get rid of them) to go before a judge for not getting this done. His next door neighbor has an old Chevy truck sitting behind his house and nothing has been said about that and it is visible from the street. I guess it boils down to what nationality you are in our neighborhood.

My stolen truck was found because an officer thought it was abandoned and ran the plates.
