So I've been doing a lot of reading and research on different types of hunts, from moose to goose and everywhere in between. In my searches I've also read up on a few game laws and different regulations. I have come to the conclusion that as hunters, we must not have a lot of say in what types of legislation get passed, or the simple fact that every hunter out there has a different view of "ethical" implications is causing a rift in our culture that is close to impossible to repair. Let me break it down and you guys can agree or disagree. And please feel free to voice any opinions.
As hunters, we ALL strive for the same goal, to obtain the game we are after. We ALL love the thrill of the hunt, the beauty of the outdoors, and sharing it all with those we love. We ALL act like children when we approach our trophy laying on the ground. We ALL live for the next hut and adventure. I have had the opportunity to swap stories with deer farmers, staunch low fence hunters, and everything in between, and I can tell you that we all share these characteristics. So, why don't we stop the bickering between viewpoints? If you want to high fence and raise 300 class deer, go for it. If you want the excitement of hunting nothing but free range deer, be my guest. But why in the world would one person decide that his/her viewpoint was grounds for limiting other hunters?
We are blessed here in Texas to have relatively lax regulations, but every state that disallows "baiting" of deer, but in the same breath states that food plots are "ethically sound" proves that the divide between personal preferences is causing more harm than good. I do not expect others to hunt like I do, and as a free man, I do not have to hunt like others do unless I so choose.
As a community of hunters, lets do what we do best and celebrate the outdoors in its purest form. It can all start with TBH'ers, because I believe that if our community sends out a unified message, it will catch on. That same unified message will squash any laws and regulations that do not promote hunting, this bringing to fruition what we as hunters strive for, a greater national presence of the hunting community.
Ok... Now that I got that all said... I'm gonna go shoot my bow
