But in an archery ONLY county such as Grayson, would a rifle be by lawful means?

        Only if you're hunting Megafawn.

I have no clue how that would work, never hunted Grayson county, so...

But I would be willing to bet the OP is not going to be hunting in Grayson county.

I'm not sure about if county overrides state on this one. I believe the deer belong to the state and MLD is a state maintained program, but not sure. A question for a TPWD biologist.

As many have already said an MLD permit changes the story. MLD lands have extended seasons which usually overlap with archery only seasons where any legal weapon may be used. This may vary by county so I would touch base with a local game warden.

If your in a county like Grayson, Collin, Dallas, and Rockwall that is archery only for the entire deer season then you can only archery equipment regardless of what level MLD you have.

In counties where the general season is a firearm season level 3 MLD can use firearm during the archery only season. Hope this helps.

I don't think it was an argument....I am not "arguing" unless there's a chance I am going to be wrong.

Nah, I was just aware of the answer to your question because we worked through all of this with TPWD back in '08-09.

Did the original poster inquire about Grayson county?

Not being an azz, just wondering if it only applies to archery only counties?
