Got My Bow Target Set-Up and Ready for Practice

Since I live in the city limits of Kilgore, I had to read and re-read the City codes and ordinances, but you can shoot a bow, air rifle, and slingshot within the city limits, on your own property, as long as there is no projectile trespassing. I used the thick rubber mat as a back-stop and hung it on the end of my carport. I can safely practice out to 30 yards but, being as I shoot a longbow, 20 will be my max practicing distance. I've marked 5,10, 15, and 20 yards. I marked 5 because I read somewhere that there are more misses at short distances due to the fact that nobody practices shooting that close. Since I've been sick, grouping was loose at first, but after about 30 arrows at 10 yards, which was my max yesterday, they started to tighten up. I also realized that I'm gonna need to wear my glasses when I shoot. Never been a problem before, but I guess the MS has done something to my right eye, which is also my dominant eye, and I was shooting bad without the glasses. The glasses didn't correct my vision entirely, but it did tighten up my groups. The good thing is that the thick rubber mat that I took out of my truck bed will stop an arrow cold. No penetration at all.

Sounds like you got it figured out. Keep practicing.

Glad to hear you were smart and read the law before you started shooting, some ppl wouldn't do that. Have fun practicing and good luck this season.
