My niece and her boyfriend are in South Africa working. He is a ranger and she works in the office. They work for the NKWE Wildlife Security. Look them up on Facebook and like them.

        Just got this from SCI!
Has nothing to do (specifically) with the pic on this post but just GREAT timing! I think the SCI Foundation has about 30 countries that grants have been awarded to help fight this scourge

SCI Foundation Attends Historic White House Conference on Wildlife Trafficking

Washington, D.C. – Today, Safari Club International Foundation (SCI Foundation) leadership participated in a White House conference on international wildlife trafficking and poaching in Washington, D.C. SCI Foundation, representing the hunter-conservationist community, strives to contribute to the global effort combating wildlife trafficking.

“SCI Foundation was extremely thankful for the opportunity to be invited to today’s briefing on Executive Order (E.O. 13648). We are appreciative that the sustainability of wildlife is not just a priority for the hunter-conservationist anymore,” said SCI Foundation President Joe Hosmer.

Former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell addressed the audience on the framework of the Executive Order to curtail the negative impact of illegal trade has for wildlife worldwide. Poaching has been and continues to be one of the strongest forces working against regulated sustainable-use of wildlife throughout Africa. To continue the fight against poachers, SCI Foundation recently made a significant donation of $35,000 to the Frankfurt Zoological Society in North Luangwa Ecosystem to support anti-poaching patrols in Zambia.

“SCI Foundation will remain poised to assist and advise how hunter-conservationists, who are already on the ground in Africa, will be the strongest advocates for curtailing poaching and illicit trade in wildlife,” concluded Hosmer.

SCI Foundation President Joe Hosmer, SCI Foundation Executive Director Bob Benson, and SCI Foundation Director of Conservation Programs Melissa Simpson all attended today’s wildlife trafficking briefing on behalf of all hunter-conservationists.
