New Mcmillan A3 stock on my 257 wby mag

Just put my Mcmillan on my 257 wby mag. I plan on getting a new trigger (jewel or timney), muzzle break or port the barrel and some fancy machine work to the bolt. I'm not a guru at this so let me know what you'd do.

That looks really nice. I would love to do that to my 257 WBY.

      Looks good!

For your trigger, get a Jewell.

If you want a really good look, send your bolt to Twisted Barrel and have the bolt fluted, larger knob installed and handle skeletonized.

A good brake takes almost all of the recoil out of this gun. Make it a removable brake.

You will definitely need hearing protection if you brake it.

I have the same rifle and it's a tack driver. I don't think there's much I could do to improve the accuracy I already get out of it. A new trigger would be nice and perhaps pillar bedding would offer some improvement. But there's no way I'd add a muzzle brake. The recoil is mild and a brake is deafening.

Just add a muzzle break and trigger (i have the tinney on my 257wby) Nice scope and glass! The rest is just flash!

Jewell trigger , Tannel or PTG replacement firing pin assembly & spring (see below) , Pillar & glass bedding will all help increase accuracy

            Fancy bolts are strictly cosmetic

Put your money into performance upgrades now, and flute the bolt later

Factory 700 FP assembly versus custom machined , cost around $60

The wrinkled up spring negatively effects lock time and consistent primer ignition

Thanks!! That's exactly the info I was looking for. That's how I want my bolt too. What's the advantage of making the brake removable?

You can take it off if you don't want/need it. If you have it built I to the barrel you are stuck with it.

All my brakes thread on.. But ive never found an instance where i wanted to shoot with out it. Just in case though it's a good idea.

The 257 weatherby with a brake shoots like a 223.

They have a kick to them that I wasn't expecting. I've got to brake this one. I know it'll make it incredibly loud so I'll just pack extra ear plugs. I'd love it to kick like a 223!!

Yup, priority 1 should be to bed it pillar and glass and add a better trigger (jewel or timney). I have a 257 wby with a screw on/off brake and it is nice to have
