How much line on a gator setup?

I know probably location and size of the gator probably dictate some, but how long a line do folks use for trapping gators? 20',30' or shorter or longer? Also what kinda line y'all using?

I use 3/8 parachute cord with 25 to 30 feet of line depending on location. Add hook with about 2 1/2 feet of heavy cord for leader

We use a 3' stainless steel leader tied to 20' of 3/8" rope.

Ok thanks guess I better hit the surplus stores and get some line

20' has enough stretch so that the gator will usually go to the end of the rope and lay on the bottom. Longer and the gator has a better change of tangling up in something and getting loose.
