I think the "official" average is 2 boxes of shells to 12 birds. Have watched folks go through a box to 2 birds.

I try to shoot one box only and usually limit or get pretty close. Once that box is done, time to cook, help the rookies or just chill.

Had one of those "events" yesterday. I made excellent shots on my 1st two passing birds. Then it took me a 1/2 box to get the next 4!

Had one of those mornings myself. It felt like I was shooting blanks! I was shooting great just a few days ago.

I finally decided to quit counting shots. I shoot until I get a limit or run out of shells. To be honest, I believe it has helped improve my shooting.
