9:06 MT Opening Day
Well my Dad and I find ourselves once again in big sky country for the 4th year in a row once more chasing these awesome Montana Whitetails. We are hunting again with Milk River Outfitters out of Hinsdale Mt.. The Milk River is still recovering from the deer kill epidemic of 2010-2011 so we will be hunting the same grounds as last year in SE Montana along the Yellowstone and Tongue Rivers. Our main hunting grounds will be the same farm we had success on last year. It consists of irrigated alfalfa fields and great bedding cover right off the river.
We arrived yesterday morning to meet up with our good friend and guide Miles. He had a good report for us. A few nice shooter bucks have been located and with a cool front on the way our hopes are high. Opening day is today so last night we split up and set up on 3 separate fields to scout. A storm system blew in before dark and affected the deer movement so no shooters were seen. That same storm system has stayed around this morning and I am hoping it blows out before our first hunt this evening.
The plan for today is to head over to the farm we will be hunting and check out some of the sets Miles has hung. Our first hunt will be this evening.
I hope this will be the my best Montana Live hunt yet with my dad and I both tagging out. I appreciate all you guys that follow this thread. The opportunity to share this awesome trip with everyone back home makes it so much better! We have good service at the hunting grounds so I will continue with live updates and pictures as I have done in years past.

I will post some pics from yesterday in a following post...
