I use face paint in early season then switch to a mask when it gets cold out.

Timely discussion because I've been considering this as well. I've used a cap with an attached mask, but I'm considering face paint on my upcoming elk hunt.

I just don't like a net on my face. Bugs the crap out of me. One thing I always wonder about is if the smell of the paint will bother the deer. Every time I wear it I can defiantly smell it. I know hunt the wind. But it's kind of hard in east texas, seems it always swirling in those big pines.

I did like the net because of the nats and mosquitoes but that was before ThermaCell.

                      Going camo paint this year.

Net in the heat. Winter scentlock hat with built in mask.

May go to paint this year if skeeters aren't terrible. Even net can get a little warm and in the way.

Academy has Dead Down Wind face paint for like $6. (Bass Pro is like two dollars more) I bought three last Thursday. It's quick and easy to put on, and comes off easy with baby wipes.

i use a face net/mask. it keeps the gnats out of my ears and is easier to remove later.

I've been thinking the same. I have been wearing a net for years. The problem I have with them is about 20 min into the hunt I get congested really bad, I think this is due where it sits on the bridge of my nose. Sounds weird but I've tried all different types Buffs, full face, 3/4 face, hat combo. I will be following the thread to see other opinions.
