Snake lovers don't read this post

Just popped a chicken/rat snake. Surprised the wife when she went to lock the hen house for the night and she called in a hit on it.

Out in the woods they get a pass, in the hen house they get popped

No pics but it did happen

I am a "snakelover" haha, I did read this thread, and all I can say is if they were after my chickens/eggs, I would have enforced the hit also.

I have also killed my fair share of snakes as a "snakelover".

A man's got to do what Mama says or you could be sharing the hen house with the live snake

You just about have to kill them in that situation. They will keep coming back if you don't.

I don't blame you for the hit! I've done it myself.

Catch them and put'em in a sock, then relocate down the road.

I'd relocate, but it's your yard, so I don't really care. As long as you're not breaking any laws, pop away!

                          NO

I have come a long way in recent years. Used to go out of my way to kill every snake I laid eyes on with out a care about what kind it was or whether it was poisonous or not. As far as I was concerned they were all poisonous.

These days I will go around them in the woods and pretty much let them be anywhere but in my yard or chicken house.
But I am not to the point that I want to handle one, would not consider myself scared just don't feel the need to put my hands on one.
And if you were my neighbor and wanted to come catch one out of the hen house and relocate it I would not have a problem
