Poison Ivy

Got into some poison ivy yesterday and got it around my eyes. Today both eyes are swollen up and itch like crazy. Sucks that the Dr. office isn't open today. By tomorrow my eyes are really going to be swollen shut.

Chlorinated water(pool) and sun shine. That always helps when I get it. Dries it out and reduces swelling. Don't scratch it.

going to the urgent care clinic now. luckily they are open on the weekend. This around my eyes is driving me crazy!

I used to have this happen once a year but the last 5 years I've been lucky and have been able to avoid poison ivy.

Talk to your pharmacy and see what they reccommend for it till you can get in to the Dr. He's probly gonna tell you to go see em asap but may know something that will ease it a little bit for you! Good luck with that stuff cause it tears me up too.

I used to get PI by just looking at it. In my old age, I rarely get it and if I do, it's very mild.

Bleach does a pretty good job drying out the poison ivy as well. I would vote for that, but wouldn't mess with the area around the eyes.

Tecnu is the best thing I've found for it. It clears it up better than anything else I've found. Pool water and sun is good, too.

Zanfel at any pharmacy will neutralize the oil that causes the problem. Get it all the time in East Texas and this stuff WORKS.

If you had it somewhere besides eyes you could use baking soda.

If it still aint better by tomorrow see if your doc will give you a Kenalog shot. Its a steroid that will have you cleared up in a couple of days. At least it works for me............

That sucks Leland......the doc will give you a shot and it should clear up fairly quickly.....Of course you probably won't be able to read this thread for a day or two.......
