    Water and fawns??

Do fawns(still with spots) get their hydration from their mommas? Or do they drink a lot of water?
At my ranch we have a cattle water trough. The bucks and doe frequently drink from it. But, I think its too tall for the fawns. According to my dad and uncles, they are fine cuz they are drinking the doe's milk.

What do you all think? Are the fawns ok?

I would say that if they are at heel... They need to be able to get to it... They especially need to be able to get to it by the rut when they get kicked off.

Fawns need water also. If possible put lower troughs or build a smal dirt ramp so they can drink also. 2 years ago we put water troughs in the pasture and built the dirt up and we had several trail cam pics of fawns drinking water.

Good info. I just installed a water tote and small trough with an automatic float. I never really thought about it benefiting fawns.

We have wildlife water guzzlers and fawns definately drink water. They are usually traveling with momma and when she goes to water, so does the fawn.

I've got trail cam pics of fawns drinking from water troughs. If yours is too tall just push some dirt up around it.

I've raised fawns for 30+ years. They will start drinking water at about one month, more as they get older.
