if it is oak wilt it will continue to die
But, oak wilt ( in my area) is only killing live oaks and it is not bothering my red oaks.
I have 600 live oaks on my place, in the last 10 years most of thos live oaks have either died completely or the tops are gone. I bet if you add a little fertilizer around the drip line and water it plenty yours will be fine

Does not look like oak wilt to me, but always hard to tell. That's a borer beetle problem you have more likely than not. Call a certified arborist, he will treat your trees with injections to kill the beetle and help the tree avoid a fungal infection. Unless you catch it and treat it really early, Trees do not "bounce back" if it is oak wilt, they just die. Some like to treat with Alamo, which gives the tree a shot if you catch it early enough, but thats hard to so and is very expensive. Typically with true oak wilt a red oak will be completely dead in a month or two, a live oak might take a few more months to die, or maybe a year if you are lucky... but they will die if it is true oak wilt. Most folks who think they have oak wilt don't. It is hard for even pros to diagnose oak wilt, symptoms are similar to many other problems... But usually it is borer beetles followed by any one of a number of fungal or bacterial infections (oak wilt is just one of them). Good luck. Expect to pay between $10 and $20 per inch of tree diameter per treatment, and it will take 2 or 3 treatments to fix it.... Unless it is oak wilt, then save your $ and buy a nice chain saw.
