When y'all put some in the freezer do you fill the bag with water and freeze it that way or just put in a bag?? I don't have a vacuum pack..

Cut the top out of a gallon milk jug, throw them in, & fill with water.

What's the deal with the water, I've heard of it with fish but not birds? Would vacuum packing work just as good?

Before the vac. machines were around.

My father & grandfather did it that way.

They seem to last indefinitely when frozen in water .

We do the same thing with brim.

I put them in a big square bowl with water ...freeze them and then put them in a freezer bag...

Thanks for the info. I used to do that with fish, before I got a sealer; but we just wrapped everything (meat) in butcher paper as a kid.
