Know where I could get use of a jointer? Building a thick cedar table from slabs.

I've got a buddy of mine that hooked me up with some nice cedar slabs to make a dining table. He took them to his neighbor and had them planed, but they still need to be joined as they are not perfectly straight for the table top.

Anybody know where I could take these 3 boards (that make up the table top) to be run through a jointer so I could dowel/glue them for the top?
Thanks. Will post pics of what I'm working on from my phone.

Here are the boards. Planning on leaving a live-edge on this table.

Thanks, but I'm stuck right now. Not sure where to find a jointer in the Dallas area. Really don't want to buy one. Might be my only option though.

I'm looking at them, but I'm not sure if they make a product that will allow me to cut these slabs perfectly straight to make the table top.

I think the only thing that will work is a jointer. Once the match up, then I can drill the holes and install the dowels and clamp them together.

Try the local high school wood shop or find a kid in the class.

Sold a bookend set of cedar a few weeks ago and the fellow did not have the equipment to handle the big slabs. He paid a local cabinet shop to do the joinery work. Left him with just having to build the base and the finish work.

Great idea. I will make some phone calls this morning.

I think you talking about straight lining the boards (putting straight edges on the board). A lumber mill or someone with a commercial table saw can do this fairly easily. You can attempt it if yourself with the right equipment but I wouldn't take the chance of ruining that beautiful wood. Be sure to post the finished product.

Thanks for all the tips. I ended up just working on it for about 5 hours this morning and finally got it perfect. Just drilled my holes, glued my dowels and then glued & clamped 2 of the 3 boards together.

Might need to bring this to the diy area.

Other than hand planing or doing two recuts with a skill saw. Just take your time, work them from one end to the other using a bunch of Bar clamps just like that.

                            Excellent job, nice slabs !!
