Who is using it and does it work in sling feeders OK? There web site is not very clear I saw a write up that said the sportsman formula was a mixture of corn and gold nuggets that worked very well in sling feeders; but there web says nothing about it. It shows a 16% and a buck and doe but both just say pellet it does not say anything about having corn in it. Maybe I read the article wrong. Figured someone here would know for sure thats been feeding it.

Deer are crazy about the extruded nuggets, and the increased nutritional value justifies the increased feed cost in my book.
The only problem is the size of a "nugget" compared to a kernal of corn.
They are bigger which may require a little bigger opening on your spinner.
Otherwise, as Travis mentioned, they can clog it up.

Now, the following questions are made completely out of ignorance. I do not feed protein from a spin feeder because of these thoughts. They are legitimate questions and I'm just looking for clarifiaction. I wouldnt think that protein coming out of a broadcast feeder would have an impact on antler growth. If your feeder puts out 2-3 pounds of feed per day and 10 plus deer come to that feeder, is each buck able to eat enough feed to make a difference? I thought a buck had to eat at least 2 pounds of protein per day to make a difference. Wouldnt an on demand feeder be a better option? Or, are you using the protein in the feeders as more of an attractant than a suppliment?

The golden nugget is a 13% protein and should go through MOST feeders. We have been selling it for 10.95 a bag. We also sell the record rack sportsmans formula that is 20% protein and that is 12.95 a bag. But the sportmans formula is a pellet and will probably clog up your normal feeder. Also both of these are 50lb bags

Skeeter, those are my reasons for not throwing protein from a spinner. The increase in price is not worth the little bit they get compared to a demand feeder. I tried the nuggets and the deer liked them and they threw fine through my feeder. I mixed them with corn. I liked the increase in protein. When they came out, they weren't that much more than corn. Now, the price is rediculous for a 13 percent pellet. Mesquite beans are at least that and don't cost anything. When a 40 lb bag of Nuggets cost a couple more dollars than a 50 lb bag of protein pellets, then I refuse to buy it. I'd rather throw pellets. Instead, I use the money that I might spend on the nuggets and put that into a higher protein pellet that the deer can get sufficient amounts per feeding out of the Boss Buck.
Now, I have modified my slinging protein due to the price of Sure Fed Spin Cast mix. It's 20% and cost me 15 cents more than corn, per 50 lb bag. I put 8 sacks in my slinger at my Road Feeder as a test. The deer seem to really love it. Nothing is left on the ground after they leave. With it comparable in price to corn, and if they eat it well, then I'll give it to them.
They won't get the benefit that a demand feeder will give them, but with it comparable to corn, it should be better than corn.
