two of our chickens just died....

We just went to see iron man, and when we come back in the corner of their pen, two of them are dead They're heads were all wet like the went for bath, but only their heads were wet..any ideas? The whole pen is covered in small chickenwire, so no yotes could have gotten them....

Most likely killed themselves. One smells blood they'll kill each other.

      I'll be first....
      Chupacabra!

Other than that, I have nothing to add of value.

Were they full grown chickens? In the past we have had young chickens killed similarly and it was a chicken snake, big enough to kill the mid size birds, but not big enough to eat the entire thing. They start swallowing and then get to the big part and have to spit it back up, or whatever.... Just an idea.

We had a dog get in our chicken wire and then get back out. The next time he did it he died of lead poisioning.

Is there anything to protect them from snakes?

Yep: That is what I would suspect also. Chicken snake.

I would guess snake as well. Bit off more than he could swallow.

Sounds like a skunk! If a skunk could have gotten to them. They always go for the head in my experience. Heck they wont even eat the rest of the chicken, its like they suck the blood out of their head.

definately sounds like a snake and he will still be around there. He will keep on killing them even though he can't eat them. Check your chicken coop out good, and you will probably find him.

                            It's obviously the bird flu.

You and everyone you know are all doomed. Now that you've gone public the feds are going to quarantine your entire neighborhood, all dressed in white biohazard suits toting "assault rifles"
