    Finders fee question...

I've put together hunts for friends and a few clients. I have a opportunity to line up a company out of state that is looking for a year round ranch to hunt with groups of 10-15 plus at a time. I have contacts on a ranch that can fill all the needs.

The company wanting this possibly can send 150-200+ people a year for their clients and employees....

My question is what finders fee or % should I be expecting to get off the deal? I've never done it on a big scale so not sure what's reasonable when were talking that many people a year and off of package hunt deals I'm going to work through the ranch. That's a lot of business is be sending that ranch owners way....

    Thanks for any input.

I would think 5-10% would be reasonable.

The guy I lease land for pays me 10 percent of the lease fee whether it is hunting or gazing rights

Due to the amount of business I will be sending his way year round I think 10% will be good.

15% is the standard fee for a booking agent.

            Typically it's 10%.

A hunt for a Booner would suffice!

Won't be any deer left after that many corporate hunters - not in the daylight, anyway! Lol!

My 3d rule of negotiations is to never make the 1st price quote, movement or concession. I'd talk to the ranch owner and say you are happy to refer people but you're thinking what would be 'fair' in a way for you to 'share' in the fruits of your bringing a big piece of business to him. Say you don't know what would be 'fair', do not let the silence on the phone or in person cause you to speak first. The silence is him thinking.

Rule #1- everything of value is negotiable
Rule #2- you don't always get what you ask for, but you never get what you don't ask for.
                  Rule #3- above
Rule #4- negotiate until you walk out with a way to come back to the table, there's no other way to know what the party's boundry and if you're leaving money in the negotiation without doing this
Rule #5- always thank the other person and declare him the winner with a smile

Get everything in writing. If your name is mentioned then you entitled to a finders fee.

Know of one guy(outfitter) that use to say if it wasn't for him the client would of never signed... jacking the guy out of the finders fee.
